The durability of any render depends mostly on its ability to take on structural deformations without failing. This ability to deform is mostly linked to the characteristics of the plaster. A reliable plaster combines strength and flexibility with the right balance. 

Flexible plasters will accommodate normal thermal and dynamic movements, thus reducing the risks  of cracking.

Durable plasters are resistant to cracking and to the penetration of water that are the causes of deterioration.
